  COUNTRY

Bubaloo Fahy was born on the Aboriginal nation of Wiradjuri, near Dubbo, NSW. She grew up feeling the red sandy earth beneath her feet and spent endless hours gazing across the plains of wheat coloured hues. A microcosm of the Australian borderland between two discrete peoples, the Wiradjuri peoples and those that had come from afar.

This was Country that had been stolen, colonised and settled by European invaders, of which her Celtic and Gaelic ancestors were part of the immigration protocol of their time. It was Country that was altered by the ravages of liberalism but remained imbued with the presence of the Wiradjuri peoples.

This enduring presence touched the spirit of the child born in this place. This land was never ceded by the traditional custodians and remains Wiradjuri County. It continues to call to Bubaloo’s spirit, whispering purpose and right action into her consciousness. Helping her to remember the source of all love resides within her being.

Bubaloo lives on Bundjalung Country.
